Epilogue

It takes just one step into the apartment and Jensen's already stumbling over something furry. He’s down in his knees and cursing loudly before he even has a chance to drop his keys and get out of his jacket.

“Déjà vu much?” Jared says from the door way and smile fondly down at him. Jensen just glares.

“Help me up?”

“Of course, honey.” Jared almost pulls him off his feet with the force and Jensen finds himself pressed against Jared’s broad chest. “Welcome home.” There’s a soft kiss on his temple and Jensen can only sigh and sink into Jared’s embrace.

“It's been a bad day. Never thought that working for a studio would be so much more stressful then doing my documentaries.” He’s still in his shoes and coat but doesn’t move an inch away from Jared.

“You miss it?”

“A little. I miss Dani more. But being settled is kind of nice.”

“Really?”

Jensen looks up then, smiles at Jared’s wide eyed puppy look and leans in for a kiss. It’s soft and warm, just what he needs right now.

“Yep. It’s good, Jay. That job’s great despite me complaining. And … I have you and Spike.”

The meow that sounds is indignant, a complaint at being ignored and Jensen laughs. He moves out of Jared’s arms then, leans down to scratch the furry head and is again amazed at how big the cat got over the last year.

A year of settled bliss Jensen would have never thought possible after Matt. But here he is, living with Jared in a nice apartment, not far from his parents or the rest of his family, with a cat to care for and domestic life to enjoy. Jensen loves it. And he loves Jared.

“Still can’t believe you named him Spike.”

“Well, it fits way better than Tiny. And really, he has spikes in his paws. My thigh is evidence of that fact.” Jensen grins when Jared laughs and nods. Spike wriggles between them then prances off towards his favorite place on the window sill.

It’s raining outside, streetlights reflected in the water drops on the window glass and the cat seems to love watching those.

“You up for dinner with your parents?”

It’s three days before Christmas and it’s family dinner time. This year the house will be full of extended family and Danneel's coming down as well, so Donna had roped them into agreeing to one dinner with just close family.

“Yeah. Just let me change and we can go.”

Jared’s right behind him though, hands on his hips, guiding him. Jensen laughs.

“Jared. We have no time.”

“Know that,” Jared mumbles against Jensen’s neck where Jared’s kissing the skin. “Just want to be close to you right now.”

“Okay.”

Jensen manages to get out of his shirt and pants without really detaching Jared, shivers at the kisses dropped on almost every patch of exposed skin. Jared’s hands on his hips are already sneaking underneath the waistband of Jensen’s boxer briefs.

“Jay …” he can only moan the word now, not really willing to stop the wandering hands.

“Hmmm. Love you all pliant against me. Love the way you let yourself just be. Love you.” Every time Jared says it, it makes Jensen’s heart beat faster. They haven’t said it a lot, but every time Jensen feels it touch something inside of him.

“Love you, too. But I really need to get ready now,” Jensen says against Jared’s mouth, twisting within Jared’s arms and trying to pull away. Only Jared isn’t letting him go.

“Think your mom will freak out?”

Jensen doesn’t need to ask to know what Jared means, just the glance at his ring finger is enough. He smiles, shakes his head and then looks Jared in the eyes.

“Of course she will. Then she’ll hug us to death and demand everything single detail and what kind of ceremony we want and so on. You know her probably better than I do, especially during the last few years.”

Jared looks a little sheepish then. “Should I have asked her before I asked you?”

Jensen wants to laugh, wants to tell Jared to stop being stupid but one look at his boyfriend’s – well fiancé now – tells Jensen that Jared's actually serious.

“Dude! No. Come on, it’s okay. Really. I’m the one you want and I’m the one you asked. That’s okay. Even with my momma,” Jensen answers smiling and pulling Jared into another kiss.

“You know where we’ll have it? New York, maybe?” Jared’s now pushing him towards the bathroom which makes Jensen laugh out loud. He knows what Jared wants and he really isn’t in the right mind to deny him. He doesn’t want to anyway.

“Hmmm ... how about Canada? Could make another documentary about moose then.”

“Good idea … Canada. Never been there.”

Jared’s already out of his jeans and the shirt is following now. He’s grinning devilishly at Jensen, a predator’s eye on his prey. Jensen feels it deep in his bones, shudders and then grins back at Jared.

“Be fast and I might let you join me in the shower,” Jensen says with a drawl he knows Jared can’t resist. Then he turns and vanishes in to the bathroom, sure that Jared will be there in under second.

Their laughter echoes through the rooms not shortly after. The cat on the window sill doesn’t pay it any mind, used to it by now and besides, he's way too focused in the birds outside.
