enablelove's birthday. This prompt has been around since Christmas and I never managed to write it. So I thought it would be just perfect as a Birthday present.
So the prompt was J2, obviously, babysitting!. I'll do the arranged marriage idea later, promise. :)
It feels like his brain wants to crawl out of his head and he can’t do anything against it. Another piercing scream, another flinch and his head throbs along. Why didn’t Josh just take the days off while his wife was away and Jensen’s parents too busy? He’s on hiatus dammit. Time off and time to relax.
So much for a relaxing day and nice kids to watch after.
He’ll never believe anything his brother says ever again. Those kids are monsters and there isn’t anybody on this planet that could convince him otherwise. He has been here for three hours and never once did they do what he told them to. And quite frankly, he’s out of ideas.
“Uncle Jen… Uncle Jen… Make him stop.”
He’ll kill Josh for letting that nickname slip in the presence of these two little devils. Chris already mocked him mercilessly the day he took them out for ice-cream and Logan yelled it through half the mall.
He doesn’t blush all that much but when he does it’s very visible and really not something he wants to promote to half the population of Dallas. Chocolate ice-cream as a piece offering or not.
Logan jumps on his back and Jensen groans. The boy is getting too old for that, too heavy for Jensen’s poor old back. The second he thinks about complaining something smaller and not so heavy joins Logan and Jensen actually topples to his knees. The cracking-pop makes him flinch and Logan laugh.
“You make funny noises, Uncle Jen.” Logan’s little brother whispers as if in awe and Jensen can only sigh and fling him around. He, of course, giggles like it’s a game. Logan laughs at Jensen’s look and joins his brother in his attack of Jensen’s sides.
They try to tickle him like he does when they are close enough. They are two though and Jensen only has so many arms. He’s got Logan but then tiny little fingers poke his skin where his t-shirt slipped up and Jensen can’t stop his own giggle from escaping. It sends the kids into a full blown laughing fit.
Jensen grins despite his headache. And yeah maybe Jensen laughs those two little rug rats despite the constant reminder how old he really is these days. He says as much out loud and earns two confused looks and more fingers poking him.
“Stop being so melodramatic. I can hear you whine in the kitchen.” Jared’s head pokes in, a lazy smile on his lips and hands twisting in a dish towel. Jensen’s eternally grateful for Jared showing up earlier. The dishes had been strewn all over the kitchen while Jensen had been busy trying not to set the house on fire with the simple task of re-heating lunch for the kids.
He’s probably the world’s worst babysitter.
“You done?” Jared nods and vanishes into the kitchen again, leaves the door open though. Jensen thinks Josh will be very pleased with his squeaky-clean surfaces and tables. Jared’s nothing but thorough when he’s on a cleaning spree.
Logan has run off again but there is still a pair of blue eyes watching him curiously. Then Jensen realizes that those eyes are swinging back and force between him and Jared in the kitchen.
“You have a question, Linc?”
The boy nods but doesn’t say a word. The he climbs up on the couch and pats the space right next to him. Jensen would laugh at the serious look on the boy’s face if he wasn’t so confused by it. So he sits down, stretches his legs and tries to suppress a groan that wants to slip past his lips.
“You can ask, Lincoln. No worries, whatever it is.” Jensen tries for a soothing voice, sees the boy react to it and smiles a little. Maybe he isn’t a great babysitter but he’s at least trying to be a good uncle.
“Where’s your ring,” Lincoln whispers, moves closer to Jensen and points at Jensen’s ring-less hands. For a second Jensen doesn’t know what to say, too confused to even ask where this is coming from.
“Which ring?”
Lincoln shrugs.
“Same mommy and daddy are wearing.”
“I’m not… Oh... Linc, only married people wear rings like that. I’m not married.”
Jensen doesn’t know why this is coming up now. Ever since Danneel and him had called it quits there hasn’t been anybody he would have called serious or even thought about introducing to his family. And the things that have been happening recently are still so new that no one really knows about them. Or at least Jensen thinks no one does.
When he looks at Jared he gets a shrug and a shake of a head, sending shaggy hear flying and making Jensen wanting to touch.
Linc sighs, all put upon and disappointed. This time Jensen allows the grin to show and he sees Jared stifle laughter behind his hand.
“But daddy said, you’n’Jay are a married old couple.” The boy nods, all sure and secure in his conviction. This time Jared snorts, actually howls with laughter that is only muffled behind his hand.
“Old married couple, Linc,” Logan pipes up from somewhere in the den and Jensen just blinks.
“Yes.” Lincoln nods again, looks expectantly at Jensen and then pointedly at Jensen’s hand again.
“Uhm… we aren’t married. Good friends and those can’t get married. It’s just a saying, Linc. You know, when something is like something but it isn’t really. Do you get that?”
There is silence for a minute or two, Logan looks at Jensen and his brother on the couch and waits. Lincoln frowns, titles his head in a way that reminds Jensen so much of Josh that it’s a little creepy and then just shakes his head.
“No. But it’s nap time, maybe after.” With that he joins Logan at the stairs and both boys make set off to their rooms with Jared walking after them. There just a quick, amused glance from Jared and then he’s gone.
Jensen sits there and thinks he’ll have a long, serious talk with Josh when he’s back home. Then he thinks Josh might have a better idea about his and Jared’s relationship then Jensen thought and it sort of freaks him out a little.
It hasn’t been going on for long. Just a few kisses, some cuddling and a handjob. Nothing to write home about, which he would never do anyway. But it’s all new, exciting and on a level Jensen can’t determine just yet.
Just a week ago Jensen would have never imagined that kissing Jared would be something he wanted to do. Now he can’t stop thinking about it.
“They are asleep.” It’s whispered against his ear and Jensen jumps a little. Jared slides in next to him, close and touching everywhere. Jensen loves it. He’s used to Jared being close, touching, invading his space, has been for years. But now he craves it even, wants Jared nowhere else but right next to him.
“Good.” Jensen sighs then, lets himself sink deeper into the cushions and settle against Jared. His head still throbs and he wants nothing more than to take a nap himself and knows that he can’t.
“How’s your head?” Jared mumbles against his temple, gentle and caring.
“Better. Should have taken more pills but all that is around here are Midol.” Jensen knows he sounds a little bitchy but his headache is just on the edge of becoming too painful and he knows it’s his own fault.
Jared snorts a little, cards fingers through Jensen’s hair and makes him shiver at the contact. It has the immediate effect that Jensen relaxes even more, tense muscles lessen their pressure on his nerves and Jensen wants nothing more but to spent the rest of the day like that.
“Need to talk to Josh, firs the name thing and now this. He’s settling ideas in his kid’s heads.”
Jared doesn’t stop combing fingers through Jensen’s hair but he shifts a little so that he can look at Jensen. There’s a tiny frown between his eyes.
“And that’s bad because?”
“Because I hate being called Jen and I’m really not old.” Jensen pouts. He knows what Jared is asking and knows what he wants to answer.
The frown’s gone in an instant and there is this small smile that doesn’t really bring out the dimples but that makes Jared’s eyes shine. It’s a smile only Jensen gets to see now and it his heart flutters every time.
“Jen,” he says smiling a little wider.
Jensen just rolls his eyes. They both know how much he really hates that name when Jared says it.
“I mean really, if we are a married couple already we sure as hell aren’t old. And shut up, I know what I said earlier.”
Jared leans down then, presses the small smile into Jensen’s skin, pulls him closer and Jensen doesn’t even try to stop his body from reacting. Jared’s kissing him then; slow and deep but with intent and Jensen moans a little.
“Jay, we can’t… the kids. Josh’ll kill us.”
“Sshh, it’s okay. Not gonna do anything bad.”
The thing is Jensen believes him even if the rasp in Jared’s voice tells him not to. But Jensen is kind of brainless when it comes to Jared and touching. Now that he can, now that no one is stopping him, Jensen tends to let reason fly out of the window way faster than ever before.
Jared chuckles a little, claims Jensen’s mouth again and lets his hands wander. Soon there are fingers on Jensen’s skin and his being pulled right up against Jared’s body. He tries to have one ear for the stairs, for sounds from the boy’s rooms but is other wise already occupied with the way Jared’s fingers feel dancing up and down his back.
“Thanks for helping me out today,” Jensen says against skin and lets his tongue slide over it while he’s close enough to do it.
“No problem. You sounded desperate. Knew you had a hard night with Mack being sick and all. Also, just wanted to see you. Been a few days.”
Jared’s hands a re teasing, lips doing the same just way more insistent but they both know nothing will come out of it. Not here and not now. Still, Jensen is so hard that he doesn’t even try to stop his hips from moving against Jared. Just a little friction, a tiny bit to relieve the pressure. It mostly works.
His cock rubs against the soft fabric of his underwear, trapped inside the denim and against Jared’s hard muscles. It’s heaven in a very special way.
Jensen wants more, needs more but holds back. Jared’s skin is flushed; Jensen can see it getting darker where it vanishes under his collar. There’s a tiny bead of sweat, sliding down. Jensen licks it away; smiles at the shudder Jared can’t suppress and laughs at the scowl he gets in return.
“You started it.”
“But I was being nice about it. You have to go and take it up a notch. Not nice, Jensen. Not nice at all.” But Jared’s grinning, wide and happy. That’s all that matters right now.
“Goddammit. Please tell me you didn’t do anything while my children are just a few feet away.”
Jensen jumps, curses when his forehead connects with Jared’s chin and glares at Josh when his brother snorts out a laugh. Well, at least now Jensen doesn’t have to worry about his hard-on anymore.
“Jay?”
“’M good. No worries.” Jared’s rubbing his chin but looks otherwise unharmed. “Also, Josh? We didn’t do anything while your children were a few feet away.” It’s said in such a deadpan way that Jensen giggles and then groans when Jared laughs out loud.
“Good, even though I don’t know if I should believe you. It would be a good idea to tuck your shirt back in before the boys come down and ask questions you don’t want to answer.” Josh grins but he looks okay, happy even and Jensen thinks all the thoughts and worries he had were unfounded. But still this really wasn’t the way he wanted to come out to his brother.
“Been there, done that.” Jared shrugs.
“Huh?” Josh asks, settles down on the armchair across from them and tries not to smirk at them when they try to straighten their closes again. Jensen didn’t even realize where his hands had been on Jared. He’s not blushing but feels like he’s close to it.
“Oh, Linc asked why I wasn’t wearing a ring.”
Josh blinks confused and shrugs.
“I got nothing.”
“Well, apparently that’s what married people do. And since you called me and Jared an old married couple, Linc just wanted to know why there is no ring.”
The laugh kind of explodes out of Josh and it’s been a while that Jensen has seen his brother so carefree and relaxed. Josh’s job takes a toll on him every day and Jensen regrets not being there for him more often. Jared seems to sense his thoughts, pulls him closer again and squeezes his shoulder. Jensen stopped wondering about their connection years ago. He’s just sad it took them so long to realize what it all was and is about.
“Sorry… so why isn’t there a ring?” Josh winks at them, his own way to tell them that he’s okay, that they are okay.
“He hasn’t asked me yet,” Jared pouts, full on and with the puppy eyes thrown in as well.
“Excuse me? Why do I have to do the asking?” Jensen actually really wants to know the answer to that.
“Because you are the one always complaining about people thinking you’d be the girl in a relationship and I thought I’d let you do the really clichéd manly thing before you break down and cry when I say yes.”
Josh is howling with laughter now, trying to stifle it so that he won’t wake the boys. Jared’s grinning and shrugs when Jensen just stares at him.
“You boys are just perfect for each other. That it took you guys so long is beyond me.”
This time they both shrug. It’s not like they could say much to that, Josh’s right and they both know it.
“Are the boys good? Did they behave?”
“Yeah,” Jensen nods and really they weren’t all that bad, just a little rowdy. If it hadn’t been for his headache Jensen wouldn’t have minded it much.
“Jen’s got a bit of a headache. Called me to help out and yes, they have been great. As always.”
Josh nods, not even questioning Jensen calling Jared for back-up. It has always been like that even before and it sure as hell won’t change now.
“Thank you, guys. Really, I appreciate it. And the boys love you anyway. So, anything planned for tonight?” The meaning can’t be mistaken and Jensen shakes his head. His brother always had an unhealthy interest in his love life.
“Sleep,” Jensen says and grins when Josh rolls his eyes.
“Lame.”
“Well, unlike you I won’t be sleeping alone tonight.” And if Jensen is a little smug about it he doesn’t care. Jared’s raised eyebrow and Josh’s playful scowl are enough of a reward.
Josh escorts them to the door, tells them he’ll hug the boys for them and thanks them again. Jensen sees the gratefulness in his eyes and hugs his brother out of impulse and maybe a little to say thank you back. Josh could have reacted a lot different from how he did and Jensen knows things are fine.
The day is still far from over but Jensen feels drained for some reason. He’s about to walk to his car when Jared stops him right there on the front porch of his brother’s house. There aren’t many people around, the street is a cul-de-sac and most of the neighbors are at work, so Jensen lets himself being pulled close to Jared.
“I know this isn’t how you planned it and I’m sorry I ruined it.”
Jensen knows what Jared means. Not for a second did he think about blaming Jared. There’s just one thing to do and to say, so Jensen does just that.
He kisses Jared right there and doesn’t care who sees them. When he blinks around after no one’s even looking. They hear Josh inside and grin when he’s done catcalling.
“I’m in love with you. Have been for a while but this is so new and I never had the right words.” Jensen feels the smile on his lips, sees Jared’s answering one and knows they are good.
“I know. Me, too. I’m so damn gone for you Jensen, it’s not funny anymore. And I wouldn’t want it any other way.”
Jensen blinks and then laughs.
“Really? Quoting lyrics to me now? Damn romantic fool.”
“That’s me,” Jared shrugs and kisses him again before he drags Jensen the car. Jensen lets it happen, grinning and almost forgetting about the headache. He’s looking forward to a slow evening in his old room at his parent’s house with Jared at his side.
It’ll be a little like back in high school when he tried to sneak girlfriends up into his room and always failed. He feels giddy about it.
“Oh and for the record, should I do the asking, I very much demand you saying yes and refrain from mocking me about my manly tears. Just had to make that clear.”
Jared’s head thrown back in laughter is probably the best sight Jensen had all day.

“I know.
