Uhm, I think I went a little astray form the pic because I guess there are no real babies? Oh well, still hope you'll like it.
Jared jolts awake and for a second he doesn’t know where he is or what woke him. Then the sharp pain runs through his arm again. He yelps out loud and yanks his arm up to look at the tiny red marks at the side of his hand.
Jared isn’t sure if he dares to look over the edge of the mattress, isn’t sure if he wants to know what just bit him.
He is home in Texas, it’s Jeff’s house, and he has been bunking down in the guestroom for the past week. It’s not something he is proud of, hogging his brother’s space and generally being an intruder even though Jeff and Lisa have told him that it was okay and not to worry.
Of course Jared worries. He is a grown man and he is hiding at his brother’s place. Because yeah, he is hiding, he can admit that much. The fact that said brother’s place is in Dallas is just a minor fact Jared tries to ignore. Only that he can’t because there is a reason he chose to hide here instead of Chad’s parent’s summer place in Cali.
Jared groans when he thinks about all the comments he’ll get once Spring Break is over and he has to be back in Austin. Chad will be merciless, maybe as merciless as Mike. Because Jared is acting like a pathetic loser who can’t take a hint.
And it is a hint when the guy you have been having some kind of fling with just takes off and doesn’t even tell you where he spends Spring Break at. Okay, so he had said something about going home but Jared’s pretty sure it wasn’t meant for his ears. Yeah, Jared can take a hint, but that doesn’t mean he can’t mourn the loss of very good sex.
Only Jeff thinks he is crushing hard, so Jared decided to not show his face at home just to prevent his momma from fussing over him and asking questions. Question he might not be able to answer. Because how do you tell your momma about the really hot guy you have been sleeping with but you aren’t in a relationship with?
Yeah, so Jared is hiding. And he has just been woken up from a very nice dream by something hiding under his bed that bit him into the hand. He is close to hollering for Jeff when he remembers that no one is home this morning, or rather this noon.
Jared decides to be brave. He can be brave, once a year or so.
He rolls over and slowly inches his head over the edge so that he can see the floor just beside his bed. A pair of round, dark eyes look back at him. Jared yelps again, recoils and lands flat on his ass on the other side of the bed, on the floor. He is really kinda glad that no one is home to witness that.
The puppy takes Jared’s flailing as an invitation to play and comes running around the bed to jump into Jared’s lap. It yowls and yips and then starts biting at Jared again. Yeah, so not cool.
Jared shoos the puppy away and grabs his cell.
“What am I doing with the puppy?” Jared asks the second Jeff answers.
There is silence for a second before Jeff snorts out a laugh. “Jay? You have two grown dogs at home and don’t know what to do with a puppy? How old are you again? Man, just feed him and take him out to the park. You know which one. And by the way, his name is Alvin.”
“That’s why I keep on calling him puppy.” Jared retorts, not even trying to suppress his distaste for the name.
“Hey, Lisa chose it. So deal with it. And don’t call again, I have a meeting in ten.” With that Jeff hangs up and leaves Jared with a yipping puppy and murderous thoughts. He so doesn’t want to leave the house today.

He feels weird being in Dallas. Almost like a stalker even though he knows the chances of meeting him here are rather slim. So he tries to relax, lets Alvin run free in the dog park and keeps an eye on all the bigger dogs around them.
It’s a nice day to be outside.
Jared sighs, tries to forget the fact that he is only here because there might be a chance and hoping for the chance to never turn into reality because that would be really weird. He doesn’t want to come off as pathetic as he feels. Also feeling sad about not even having a phone number is definitely not the way he had planned on spending his Spring Break.
Alvin is rolling around in a pitch of sand when someone settles down next to Jared on the one free, undamaged bench he was able to find. Jared is too engrossed in watching the puppy to really care. So he almost flies off the bench when the person speaks.
“Are you stalking me?”
Jared’s pretty sure he gives himself whiplash when he turns his head too fast to stare at Jensen. Jensen who is smirking, who seems to be amused rather than annoyed. Jared doesn’t know how to answer, doesn’t know what to say for a while there. He just stares, aware that this must be even creepier than running into him.
Jensen raises his eyebrows when Jared fails to say something, shifts a little on the bench and brushes Jared’s knee with his.
Jared shivers.

On a park bench in Dallas, during spring break, Jared, for the first time since this thing between him and Jensen started, doesn’t know what to feel about the other man.
When Jensen shifts again, making Jared shiver all over for a second time, Jared finally realizes he is supposed to say something.
“What? No… God… I… the puppy. I am puppy-sitting?” It comes off as a question and Jared cringes. Yeah, way to come across as a pathetic loser. He tries not to blush and knows he is failing. “Uhm. Hi?”
Jared swallows hard and hopes he won’t make a total fool out of himself. So yeah, maybe Jeff is right and he is totally crushing here. Way to go and fail at having a ‘no-strings-attached’ thing in college. He, of course, has to go and develop feeling for the guy.
“Hello, Jared.” Jensen’s voice is as smooth as always and Jared doesn’t really know how to react. Jensen has this effect on him.
“I am visiting my brother. Puppy is his.” Jared looks toward where Alvin is still busy taking a sand bath, it will be a bitch getting him cleaned up later.
“Ah. Thought you’d be in Cali, with your buddy Chad.” The emphasis lies on ‘buddy’ and Jensen suddenly sounds strained, unsure even. It’s confusing until Jared looks at him and sees the frown on Jensen’s face.
“Didn’t feel like it. Chad’s been giving me shit already for it. I just… I didn’t want to… party.”
Jensen nods, looking towards Alvin now. “Oh. I… I thought you would maybe call or something? I was stuck in lab the last day and you were gone when I was done.”
Jared blinks, stunned. This is a side of Jensen he has never seen before. “Call? I… I don’t have your number. Didn’t know about the lab, thought you were off to that island you’ve been talking about.” He ducks his head to hide how much his feelings are visible on his face. His face is always an open book and he doesn’t want Jensen to see something they both might not be ready for.
“Oh, island plan didn’t work. My momma is real happy about that.” Jensen says again. “I left my number on your desk before break. I thought… I don’t have yours either. I thought you didn’t want me to have it… or talk to me.”
Jared feels like crying. “Chad got on a drunk cleaning rampage, threw away everything on the desks and floor. I never saw anything you left. I…. “ Jared snorts.
“We are pathetic, huh?” Jensen smirks “You know, I feel like a thirteen year old girl pining away over a guy that doesn’t call. And it’s not even like that. My momma thinks I am heartbroken.”
Jensen being so open about it makes it easier for Jared to laugh, to move closer to Jensen even.
“I am hiding from my friends and parents because… I… I miss you. I just didn’t know if it was okay. If this is okay.”
“It is. Okay, I mean. It really is,” Jensen scratches his neck, a gesture Jared knows means that Jensen is nervous. “I thought you and Chad you know… That I was just… a fling?” This time it’s Jensen posing it as a question, and Jared finally gets that all the times Jensen glared at Chad wasn’t just because Chad was his obnoxious self but because Jensen was jealous. It makes Jared unbearably happy.
“My brother will be away until late. His wife is gone the whole weekend.”
Jensen’s smile is all the answer he needs. He calls Alvin over, scowls at Jensen for laughing at the name, and finally grabs the pup as well as Jensen’s hand and drags both of them off towards Jeff’s place.

“Fuck yeah. Like that.” Jensen moans out loud, drags his hands down Jared’s back, leaving scratches, making Jared shiver again and again. His hips stutter, lose the rhythm, and Jared grunts with the effort of not just letting go.
Jensen is gorgeous like this, all spread out under him, talking dirty, spurning him on. Jared never wants to see it as something casual again. Because it’s not. He’s had casual and he should have known that this goes far beyond that.
“God, yeah. Missed this. Missed you. Let’s never be this stupid again.”
Jared wholeheartedly agrees with Jensen there but figures Jensen is still too coherent. He rolls his hips, moves faster, and then just takes Jensen into his hand.
It’s over way too soon, pent up emotions making it impossible to go slow, to not make it frantic and hard. Waves of pleasure wreck his body, make him tremble, make him shiver.
He never lets go of Jensen though, never stops kissing, never stops listening.
They fall asleep wrapped around each other. Not talking, not analyzing, not defining. Not yet.
Just being close, being together.

“Jay? Whose sneakers is Alvin chewing on?”
Jared doesn’t get the chance to yell out a warning before the door opens.
“Oh fuck, sorry.” The door slams shut again and Jared is eternally grateful for the covers still being halfway over them and for the darkness of the room.
“Dammit, Jay.” Jeff sounds amused though.
“Sorry?” Jared chuckles, draws Jensen closer when he tries to get away. After a few seconds of struggle, Jensen gives up, sighs and flops down again.
“Yeah, right. Dinner in thirty if you guys are hungry.” Jeff’s voice is fading off when he walks away from the room but Jared can still hear the laughter in his voice. Yeah, his brother is awesome.
“Uhm…Dinner?” Jared doesn’t dare to hope but can’t suppress the stupid smile when Jensen answers.
“Dinner sounds good. Have to call home though. My momma worries an awful lot these days.”
“Yeah, tell me about it.”
They both laugh out loud, kiss gently and try not to start something they can’t finish.
So maybe Spring Break didn’t turn into a epic fest of self-pity after all. Jared can live with that and he thinks Jensen can as well.
