Title: "The Power I hold over You"

Theme: 03 Paranormal

Warnings: Might be spoilery for season 5
Summary: They have power, mostly over each other.
They have power over each other. It’s as simple as that.
Sam knows what he has to say, to do to guide Dean towards a certain, a certain decision.
The same goes for Dean. They both know which buttons to push, which weakness to exploit. They both have all the means to destroy the other one or to build them up again.
Lately though Sam thinks there has been a shift. A shift due to the rift between them opening up and closing again. Lines have been crossed, new ones drawn. They are puzzle trying to fit new pieces into the whole picture.
There are jacked frames and broken contours. Nothing is clear anymore as they fight their way through the apocalypse. There are new pictures being painted, new experiences written down. The scars a fresh on both their souls. Nothing fits like it did before. Some things fit better; some don’t fit at all anymore.
And Sam doesn’t know who holds power over whom anymore or if at all. Angels, Demons, Ghosts, they are try to find their own ways to end their lives. For Sam only Dean matters these days. He doesn’t dare to speak it out loud most of the times.
One look though is sometimes enough to make it all right. Because Dean is there and is looking right back.
There are things Sam would have never said to Dean before. Before Hell, before the break, before the apocalypse. Now he doesn’t even think before blurting them out, flinching only slightly when Dean stands frozen, stunned even. He knows that Dean is struggling with the same insane need to talk, to reassure himself that they are still there.
There are things Sam would have never dared to do before it all went down a slippery slope and took them with it. Interestingly though, those things are the ones he wants the most. Judging from Dean’s kisses, bites and moans Sam isn’t alone with this. They are desperate at times, trying to forget what they are facing, but then the slow and gentle creeps in making it all the more intense.
There are changes, subtle or huge, that pull and push and stretch them till their limits. In the end all they manage to do is being closer than ever before. Everything has a before for Sam. But there is no before Dean.
One thing though is still the same. Dean has power over Sam’s soul, as does Sam over Dean’s. They just have to find a new way to balance each other out, because God forbid one of them lets the other loose.
